ENTRY OF APPEARANCE
It is recommended that you enter your appearance for your client as soon as possible. An “Entry of Appearance” can be filed either via email or fax.
DISCOVERY
The Basehor Municipal Court has a standard form that we will prepare and supply to you when you have entered your appearance. Once completed and signed by the Judge, the court clerk will proceed with processing. You will then be notified by the clerk of the cost, once paid the discovery will be mailed to you.
COURT APPEARANCE
Since our prosecutor is part-time, he does not have set office hours for meeting with defense attorneys and our court does not have a formal “attorney plea docket”.
CONTINUANCES
If a hearing needs to be continued, file a written motion accompanied with an order (both signed by you and with a signature line for the Court) to the court clerk at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. Please provide a list of dates when you are available for the new hearing, otherwise, it will be set for the next Court date. The motion and order can either be faxed or emailed to the court.
WITHDRAW AS COUNSEL
Should you desire to withdraw from a case, you should consult the Supreme Court Rule 117 and comply with its provisions.
