Job Title: Animal Control Officer – Part-time (average 10-15 hours a week)
Status: Permanent Part Time Position, including some weekends and holidays.
Salary: $14.00 per hour

The primary duties and responsibilities are to help maintain public health standards by making our community safe for both people and animals. The Animal Control Officer will patrol our community looking for potential signs of distressed animals, picking up strays or citizens animals that are running at large (domestic animals “cats and dogs only”), picking up deceased animals, dealing with barking dog complaints, other animal nuisances, abused animals, investigating animal bites, preparing reports as needed, testifying in court as directed, cleaning kennels, feeding and caring for impounded animals, transporting animals to facilities for transfer or necessary care, as well as additional responsibilities as needed and working with citizens concerning animal control issues.
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history. Valid applicants must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and drive a manual transmission vehicle. Applicant must be a resident living in the City of Basehor and requires a valid high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to learn and meet state standards of care for domestic animals subject to applicable state and local laws.
Will be required to work some Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays as needed; Mostly daytime schedule, subject to emergency call outs at all times of the day and night. Hours will be determined by needs associated with animal calls. Average 10-15 hours/week.
