The Basehor Building Safety Department staff assures the public’s health, safety, and welfare in the city’s built environment while facilitating construction and development as well as ensuring new construction complies with all adopted construction codes. This division of the Planning and Zoning Department issues building permits and conducts building inspections. The codes division is also responsible for the enforcement of all Municipal Codes relating to property maintenance.
Contractor Licensing Requirements
The City of Basehor requires all contractors and subcontractors to be licensed through the Contactors Licensing Program of Johnson County. All contractors will be required to provide proof that you and your subcontractors are licensed through this program.
City Business License
The City of Basehor requires all persons, firms, or corporations conducting business within the city limits to obtain a city business license prior to operation.

Requesting Building Inspections
All inspections including sewer must be requested no less than 4 hours in advance. The inspector will try to arrive as quickly as possible. To schedule building inspections, please email the Building Department or call 913-724-1370, ext. 34. Please provide the address, type of inspection required, requested time of inspection, as well as a return phone number.
All sewer connection inspections should be scheduled through the Public Works Department by calling 913-724-2000. These inspections must be requested no less than 4 hours in advance as well.
