Road Construction Update

The latest information about road construction projects around Basehor.

At the April 21, 2008 city council meeting street projects eligible for funding
through the Kansas Department of Transportation corridor management fund
were discussed. The city council voted to proceed with 150th Street, from
Craig Road north to Parallel Rd, as a number one priority with a funding
request in the amount of $100,000. Second priority was the extension of
Basehor Blvd from 153rd to 150th Street with a funding request of $500,000.

Developer Ed McIntosh, Benchmark Management, stated they were ready to
proceed with the extension of Basehor Blvd and construction of the new
grocery store.


147th and Parallel Road - COMPLETED

Final inspection on 147th and Parallel Road project was held on October 12, 2007. There are a few items for resolution which include additional fence poles or extensions in drainage area and one drive entrance that had soft spots.

Hollingsworth Road (K-7 to 147th Street) - COMPLETED

Asphalt on the Eastern portion of the project was completed July 18th and the first coat of chip and seal was applied to the western portion the week of July 23 - 27, 2007. Additional AB-3 rock was added to the shoulders to bring the slope to the 4:1 design specification. The western half of the street has received two coats of chip and seal with a third coat to be applied in 2008. Items to be completed by Leavenworth County Public Works crews by end of September include fence restoration, mail box placement, survey markers and centerline, and edge stripping.

Only minor punch-list items remain on the Hollingsworth Road project.
