Recreation

Basehor City Park

The Basehor City Park is located in the northwest corner of our city on Leavenworth Road approximately a mile west of 155th Street.  The park has a gazebo, shelter, and pavilion to use as well as a great children's playground area.  There is also plenty of open space for families to have a picnic, play catch or volleyball, and have the kids run around. To reserve the park for any occasion please contact Kathy at 913-724-1370 ext. 21.   

The Basehor City Park was established through the joint effort of the Basehor Park Association and the city of Basehor.  The Park Association continues to raise funds for improving the park through donations of aluminum cans for recycling.

The youth of our community have many opportunities to be
involved in a variety of recreation and sports.  Besides the many sporting activities offered through Basehor-Linwood
USD 458, The Basehor Athletic Association offers opportunity for young people to participate in baseball, softball, t-ball, basketball, wrestling, and football. 

The Basehor Athletic Association is a non profit self-funding organization which  operates with dedicated volunteers from our community.  The philosophy of the Basehor Athletic Association is to give equal opportunity for youth to participate and develop their skills regardless of age, race, skill or economical level.  They put a special emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.

ImageKansas Speedway

Since their inaugural racing season in 2001 thousands of race fans have come to enjoy the Kansas
Speedway, which is just a few miles east of Basehor, for Nascar, Indy Racing League, and ARCA Re/Max Series racing. The Speedway offers several driving schools as well as hosting events on the 1,200 acres. There are many opportunities for entertainment and entertaining at the Kansas Speedway.

Golf Courses

Falcon Lakes is a premiere public course in the Kansas City area.  It is located 5 miles North of I-70 and ¼ mile West of Highway 7.  Designed by Carter Morrish, this championship layout was sculpted out of the subtle rolling terrain that is so familiar in the Kansas plains which will challenge golfers of all skill levels and their shot-making ability.

Sunflower Hills Golf Course is a public course that is just minutes east of Basehor near the intersection of K-7 and I-70.  It is one of the finest public course for the price. They also features a Junior Golf Course next to the main course.   

Concerts

Every summer the open-air concerts at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater attract large crowds of fans to hear top musical groups from around the world.  The amphitheater which is located just a few miles east of Basehor has been showcasing great live music for the last 22 years.  The facility features 6700 reserved seats and expansive grass seating.  Its beautiful setting and great acoustics make it the ultimate outdoor concert experience.

Baseball
Logo 
The T-Bones Baseball Team are in a independent professional baseball league called the Northern League.  Their stadium was completed in the spring of 2003 and is located a few miles east of Basehor across from the Kansas Speedway.  The T-Bones offer great baseball at reasonable price.  And parking is free.


Shopping, Dining and Places to Stay

Village West is a $450 million development north of the Kansas Speedway which continues to grow and be developed.  They are the home of Cabela's - World's Foremost Outfitters and to the Great Wolf Lodge, one of North America's largest and Kansas' premier indoor water park.  Many people drive from across the Midwest to shop at The Nebraska Furniture MartThe Legend Shopping Center will continue to bring a mix of specialty shops, unique retail stores and dining venues.  They have also a 14-screen theater with luxury seats, balcony and bar.
