Youth soccer is coming to the Field of Dreams. The City of Basehor is proud to announce the introduction of youth soccer programming at the Field of Dreams athletic facility
located at 14333 Fairmont Road.  A 4 on 4 soccer league is currently being developed.  The League will be open to boys and girls in grades Kindergarten through 6th.  Rosters
will be kept to a minimum so all participants can get plenty of action.  Games will be played Saturday mornings beginning September 17.  Registration and a $40 fee (includes t-shirt) are due by August 12.  The City of Basehor will refund 50% of the fee for all participants who reside in the City.  The goal of youth programming at the Field of Dreams is to emphasize fun, sportsmanship and high quality instruction in a relaxed atmosphere.  Sunday afternoons will be used in the event of rainouts. April 22nd is Earth Day!  The City’s logo is blue but our goal is
green for the City of Basehor!   The City recently took a big step
toward being environmentally sustainable by launching city-wide
single stream curbside recycling.  Resolve to reduce, re-use and
recycle. Our eight-county Mid America Regional Council (MARC) area
reports that currently only about 25 percent of its waste is being diverted from
landfills.  MARC has established a waste diversion goal of 40 percent waste by 2013. Increased awareness of existing waste reduction and curbside recycling  helps keep solid waste material out of landfills.  Want more information? Go to http://www.epa.gov/.

The sound of lawn mowers is right around the corner. The City of Basehor
has adopted ordinances in an effort to maintain our city neighborhoods
as a safe, clean and attractive community in which to reside and conduct
business. Any grass or weeds above 12” in height is considered blighting.
This means the property is out of compliance with City Code and the property
owner will be notified. The owner has ten days to cut tall grass and/or weeds.  If the owner does not cut the tall grass and/or weeds the City reserves the right to mow the property and all incurred costs will go to the owner of the property.  For details, contact Code Enforcement Officer Mark Lee at 724-1370 ext. 27.
