Notice to Basehor Residents - Utility Service Information
Effective May 1, 2009, monthly sewer rates shall increase to $7.56 per 1,000 gallons of water consumption. Residents living in Victory Crest subdivision shall pay $9.46 per 1,000 gallons. All other properties outside the city limits connected to the Basehor sanitary sewer system shall pay $11.35 per 1,000 gallons. General Information
Monthly water consumption records will be obtained by the City of Basehor from the water companies. The City Council determines the rate to be charged per 1,000 gallons each year. The charge is figured and implemented each May.
New residents to Basehor where water consumption history has not been established will be charged a base rate until three consecutive months of water billing can be provided. Residents are allowed to bring in their three most recent water bills for a re-evaluation of that assigned rate. Bills are mailed out the end of the month for that month and are due by the 15th of the following month. If not paid by the 15th, a delinquent fee of 10% will be added. Payments (check or money order only) can be mailed or placed in our drop box located in the City Hall parking lot. If you are a new resident or moving into the Basehor area you will need to fill out a Utility Service Contract and Information Form and return it to City Hall. Sewer Services
The City offers Automatic Payment Withdrawal for Sewer and Solid Waste payments.

Solid Waste Trash Services
All residents of the City must subscribe to trash pick-up through Deffenbaugh at $9.99 per month for each residential unit unless the owner/occupant has obtained a Private Hauler Permit from the City Clerk's Office. Such a permit shall be in the amount of $50.00 per calendar year, per dwelling unit, and shall be renewed on or before January 15th of each year.

A business customer shall be charged a monthly service assessment fee of $9.99 for each business unit if the business customer utilizes the services of the city contractor.
Trash Pickup Schedule:
Wednesday: Residents are asked to have their solid waste trash at the curb by 7:00 AM. If not picked up by 7:00 PM please call Deffenbaugh Customer Service at (913) 631-3300. Due to route change, normal pick up time will vary.
Service: All waste must be bagged or bundled (no loose trash in containers), weigh no more than 65 pounds, and must be curbside by 7 a.m. Trash must be placed on the ground. Deffenbaugh will not remove trash from trailers, trucks, cars, etc. All trash must be visible from the street and not blocked by parked vehicles or other items that may restrict crew's ability to remove. Up to 10 bags of regular household trash per week will be taken from a residence.
Holidays included in our contract and listed on the back of your sewer/trash bill are: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Trash pick-up will be delayed one day should one of these holidays fall on or before your normal pick-up day.
Containers: Preferably, containers are to be no larger than 32 gallons. No plastic, metal or cardboard barrels. No 55-gallon barrels will be emptied. Trash cans that are to be thrown away MUST be marked.
Yard Debris: 10 bags or bundles of yard waste per week. Branches and tree limbs should be cut into lengths of 4 feet with a diameter of 4 inches. Bundles should be tied with a diameter not to exceed 18 inches or 65 lbs. and placed at the curb on the same side as the trash. Yard waste will not be taken from a container. Note: In the event of a storm, tree branches may also be discarded at the back end of the Basehor City Park. No dirt or rocks.
Special Services: Residents are allowed one large item per week, but NO Freon items, construction debris or hazardous waste material. For an additional fee, Deffenbaugh will make a "Special Pick-up" of concrete, appliances, furniture, construction/remodeling debris, carpet if more than 2 bundles, or other unusual items that are not included in your normal service.
