Police Department Mission and Values

The Basehor Police Department’s first and highest priority is the safety and welfare of the citizens of the community and the men and women who protect them.  They are committed to working in partnership with their community to improve the quality of life in Basehor. 

Our mission is to provide police services in a fair, courteous and efficient manner.  Everyone we come in contact with will be treated with compassion and respect without bias.  The department achieves this through the efforts of its sworn officers and support personnel.

Police Department Highlights

The Community Storm Shelter is opened and stocked for citizens to use when potential bad weather is moving into the area. The Community Storm Shelter is located in the basement of City Hall. For more information click here.

Police Chief Lloyd Martley presented to the Chamber of Commerce an informative seminar about protecting yourself from fraud and identity theft in September. For more information you may contact Cheif Martley at 913-724-1370 ext. 22.

Philosophy of the Chief of Police                                      

Trust:
I trust our Police employees to be professional and do the right thing. I hold every employee accountable and responsible for his or her own actions. Therefore, everyone shall be treated with respect from this Police Staff.

Teamwork:
We are a team, which shall treat each other and the general public with respect just as we would our own family.

Our Police employees must have a desire and passion for serving the public. The commitment to serving the people must be evident to include integrity, honesty, professionalism and the goals to always improve and learn more in this profession.

I shall assemble a professional staff to serve this growing community.
Therefore, I desire only the best candidates our government can provide with what we have to offer.  I becomes a “We” and “We” is our chosen team to succeed in the business.

My philosophy to have an “Open Door Policy” not only to the employees, politicians, city management, but to the general public 24-hours per day.
