Police Services

Officer Assistance:  In case of an emergency DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL 911.  The police department is not staffed with a dispatcher.  If you need an officer for non-emergency issues, an animal control issue, after office hours or on a weekend you will need to call 913-724-1313. This will put you in touch with the Leavenworth County Dispatch and they will see that an officer responds to your needs.

Vacation Watch:  The Police Department offers residents an opportunity to have their homes checked by police patrol during vacations, business travel, or other times when residents are away from their home for a long period of time.  Residents must come in to the Police Department and fill out a vacation watch request form.

Emergency Information:  The Police Department has a form available to residents which would assist emergency personal should the need arise. This form allows the resident to document any lifesaving device(s) in the home, an illness of a family member (Alzheimer’s, autism, cancer etc) which may require special attention and/or an animal which may become dangerous in a stressful situation. Upon completing this form the information is forwarded to the Leavenworth County Dispatch to be entered into the dispatching system for future reference to all emergency personal to include Police, Fire and EMS. The information you provide is strictly confidential and will not be disseminated to anyone other than dispatch.

Project Child Safe:  Located in the foyer of the Police Department you will be able to obtain free gun locks for each weapon that you might have in your home.  These locks were provided to the Police Department through a grant and are provided free of charge to the public.

Crime Tips:  If you should see, hear, or obtain information regarding a crime, suspicious activity or other police related concerns you are advised to contact the Lieutenant 913-724-1370 ext. 25 or send an email to lt@basehorpolice.org.

Animcal Tags:  Per city ordinance all cats and dogs must be registered yearly, this is done by providing proof of rabies vaccination and paying the fee of $5.00 per animal.  Check or money order accepted only. We also have regulations on how many animals per household, leash laws etc.
