Police DivisionsThe Basehor Police Department has five different divisions: The Basehor Police Department is commanded by the Chief of Police. The Chief is ultimately responsible for the Police Department and the Municipal Court. He is also responsible for budget preparation and personnel matters, policies and procedures, and long-range planning. The Basehor Police Department provides patrol services 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. The primary
duties of these officers on patrol are to conduct neighborhood crime prevention patrols, business and residential checks, traffic
control operations, and a variety of other tasks. The officers at all levels of the department partner with citizens a from both
the private and public sector to enhance the safety and security of all Basehor residents, commonly referred to as community
policing. Through this partnership Basehor residents enjoy a high level of protection and a feeling of cooperation. The investigations division is responsible for criminal investigations. The detective searches for, preserves and collects evidence, investigates, interviews victims, witnesses and potential suspects. They conduct appropriate functions such a photographing, fingerprinting and other tasks at the crime scene as are necessary as well as prepare and deliver the cases to the prosecuting attorney for court action. |
