Police Services
In case of an emergency CALL 911. Officers for non-emergency issues, animal control, after hours or on a weekend can be contacted at Leavenworth County Dispatch 1.855.301.8423. The Basehor Police Department provides patrol services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. The primary duties for officers on patrol include neighborhood crime prevention, business and residential checks, traffic control and a variety of other tasks. The officers at all levels of the department partner with citizens from the private and public sector to enhance the safety and security of all Basehor residents, commonly referred to as community policing. Through this partnership Basehor residents enjoy a high level of protection and a feeling of cooperation.
Investigations
The Investigations Division is responsible for criminal investigations. The detective searches, preserves, collects evidence, investigates, interviews victims, witnesses and potential suspects. Additionally, the detective photographs, fingerprints and other tasks at the crime scene as necessary as well as prepare and deliver the cases to the prosecuting attorney for court action.

Open Door Policy: I have an "Open Door Policy" for employees, politicians, city management, and the general public 24-hours a day.
Vacation Watch
The police department offers residents an opportunity to have their homes checked by police patrol when residents are away from their home for a long period of time. Residents must come into the Police Department and fill out a vacation watch request form.
Animal Tags
Per city ordinance all cats and dogs must be registered yearly. The owner must provide proof of rabies vaccination and pay the fee of $5.00 per animal. Check, money order, Discover, MasterCard and Visa accepted (sorry, no cash). Police Reports
A copy of a police report may be obtained by completing a records request in the Police Administration Office, only information open to public record will be released. If you wish to obtain a copy of an ACCIDENT REPORT, our online retrieval system allows citizens, and insurance companies internet access to retrieve motor vehicle accident reports. There is a fee assessed to all reports.
Every effort is made to have reports accessible within five to seven business days from the report date. However, there are many factors that can cause a delay. Some reports may not be accessible through the online system. For reports not found here please contact the police administration office at 913-724-3397.
Please note that K.S.A. 45-230 prohibits the use of information contained in police reports for marketing purposes. Violators will be prosecuted.
