Additional Historical Facts

Basehor was once called “the milk town”?  A large majority of dairy farms dotted the landscape in the rural Basehor area and even some right here within city limits including a large farm just across the street from Basehor City Hall. The post office also served as a creamery. The train depot located right here in town picked up cream and milk to service the Kansas City area.

Basehor Dairy Days

6th Annual Dairy Days - June 3 -4, 2011
Basehor City Park - 15940 Leavenworth Road, Basehor, KS 66007
Come one, come all to a day of fun for the whole family including live music, display of dairy memorabilia, carnival games, food, crafts and more. The festival, which pays homage to the city's rich dairy history, is held annually on the 1st Saturday in June. Event rain or shine! Acres of parking available. FREE ADMISSION!

June 3rd 6:30-8:30pm
Picnic in the park and concert by local blues band.
Brats, polish sausage, hotdogs and root beer floats will be available for purchase or bring your own picnic dinner.

June 4th 7:00am-4:00pm
5K run (see below for details), Pancake Breakfast, Gunsmoke & Petticoats Old West Show, Bluegrass, "Sizzle the Bull", the official mascot of the Kansas City T-Bones and much, much more.. see schedule of events for more details.
